Raila Odinga Unveils CORD Strategy to Beat Jubilee in Nairobi

Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) leader Raila Odinga has unveiled two main strategies his team will use to ensure victory in most of the Nairobi seats.

Addressing ODM aspirants in the Capital, Odinga advised them to be wise when mobilising voters and avoid wasting their energy on areas that would not benefit the party.

First, the Opposition leader told his team to map out all CORD strongholds where the Coalition will be assured of victory in the August 8 elections.

Upon identifying these areas, Odinga stated that the leaders should then focus on mobilising supporters to register as voters in large numbers, which he says, will ensure the Opposition will beat the Jubilee administration in Nairobi.

"There are some areas like Roysambu, Starehe and Kasarani. We cannot win seats there. So we need to be smart. Instead of taking people to register as voters there, take them to swing areas like Makadara,” he asserted.

He further cautioned the aspirants against infighting, adding that people should be elected based on their development record and not on tribal lines.

"We should not let leaders who were elected in their villages come and dictate our future. We will not let anyone split the party," he warned.

During the meeting also attended by Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero, the ODM leader reiterated that the upcoming polls would be won depending on which faction will rally enough supporters to register as voters.

The Opposition has been rallying its troops to turn out in large numbers and participate in the ongoing registration by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
