Raila's Message After ODM MPs Shamed Uhuru in Parliament

CORD leader Raila Odinga has finally spoken in regard to the whistle blowing protest staged by ODM MPs during President Uhuru Kenyatta's State of the Nation Address.

Speaking during a meeting at Orange House, Odinga blamed the House Speaker Justin Muturi for the happenings at Parliament, indicating that his move to silence the lawmakers had prompted the demonstration further.

He condemned Muturi's move to throw out the protesting legislators highlighting that it was unfair to deny them a chance to air their grievances.

“I do not think it was right to treat members as criminals,” Odinga stated.

The former Prime Minister indicated that Speaker Muturi ought to have given the members time to speak in the August House, noting that the presence of the President should not have hindered him to do so.

"Hata kama wewe ni Rais , wewe si Mungu (Even if you are the President, you are not God)," Odinga said

Odinga defended the unprecedented move by the Opposition MPs arguing that it was a wake up call to the Jubilee Government to realise that Kenyans were alert.

ODM legislators on Thursday delayed President Kenyatta's speech after causing commotion inside Parliament, that left their colleagues from the ruling coalition dumbfounded.

The pandemonium caused by the Opposition leaders prompted House Speaker Justin Muturi to throw out ODM Chairman John Mbadi (Gwasi), Gladys Wanga (Homa Bay), Tom Joseph Kajwang (Ruaraka), Opiyo Wandayi (Ugenya), Fred Outa (Nyando), Mbita's Millie Odhiambo and Simba Arati (Dagoretti North).
