Remove President Kenyatta's Portrait in Offices, Governors Told

Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga has urged all Governors affiliated to the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) to remove President Uhuru Kenyatta’s portrait from their offices and replace it with that of Raila Odinga.

Speaking on Saturday during a joint memorial service of the late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga and Fidel Odinga in Bondo, the Siaya Governor noted that he was leading by example in having Raila’s portrait in his office.

“We only need to hang our portraits as Governors and that of Raila in our offices. The other one (President Uhuru Kenyatta’s) we don’t need,” said Rasanga.

The Siaya Governor challenged all the 24 CORD Governors to follow suit, in having Raila’s portrait in their offices, as a show of honour to the Opposition leadership.

Rasanga further asked the CORD Governors to ensure they disbursed funds for ID and voter registration to marshall up electorate power to allow the Coalition ascend to power in 2017.

In July 2014, Rasanga sparked contention after he went ahead to declare a public holiday in his County during the launch of Okoa Kenya drive.

Rasanga had asked County and National Government workers in Siaya to stay at home and directed the security agencies not to allow anyone access to their offices.
