Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s sister Ruth Odinga has sensationally claimed that members of their family were sabotaging the presidential ambitions of ODM Presidential contender, who is also their brother.
Ruth, who is also the Deputy Governor in Kisumu county, claimed that some members of her family were interfering with ODM party primaries by siding with some aspirants.
“They must stop forthwith as this is likely to jeopardise Raila’s stab at the Presidency,” stated the Kisumu Deputy Governor.
Ruth revealed that she had received complaints from aspirants in Siaya, Homabay, Kisumu, and Migori that some members of her family were taking sides in the campaigns, adding that they were allegedly being aided by Party Chairman John Mbadi.
“I am urging the chairman to make sure he is non-partisan and that he supports the party. Any official seen to be supporting a certain candidate should be made to step down from that position”, Raila’s younger sister warned.
She added that such interferences will result in voter apathy and ultimately derail their brother’s presidential bid in 2017.
“I am asking them to keep away from ODM nominations so that the people can have their say in the primaries to rejuvenate Raila’s quest for the Presidency,” Ms Odinga concluded.
Ruth is herself a candidate in Kisumu’s gubernatorial race where she will be facing off with the incumbent Jackson Ranguma and Senator Anyang’ Nyong’o.
