Deputy President William Ruto has been allocated an extra Sh100 Million to cater for his travel expenses around the country as per the newly revised budget presented in Parliament on Tuesday.
Ruto was previously allocated Sh61 Million for local traveling in the current financial, but has reportedly exhausted his travel budget prompting allocation of more funds - a whopping 161 percent increase for his tours.
The DP has been making countless trips around the country to attend attending fundraisers, church services and political campaigns, a key reference being during the Malindi and Kericho by-elections in which he was campaigning vigorously.
At the moment the DP is in the Rift Valley region with President Uhuru Kenyatta launching various projects.
The massive increase in budgetary allocation to the DP's office comes even as the Government claims it intends to slash travel budgets for ministries, departments and agencies to channel more funds into development spending.
The office of the DP has in overall been apportioned Sh271 Million to spend for the next three months before the next fiscal year which begins in June 2016. The money is set to cater for rent payment and other office expenses.
Despite the Government increasing money allocated to DP Ruto, it has deprived former President Mwai Kibaki and his predecessor Daniel Moi of Sh6 Million in budgetary allocations meant to cater for renovation of their respective offices in Nairobi.
