Thousands of residents who were hosted by Deputy President William Ruto at his Sugoi home in Uasin Gishu County are said to have returned home a disappointed lot after failing to receive cash handouts.
The residents who had travelled from far and wide were treated to a party over the festive season but failed to receive liquid cash.
The DP has been known to be generous in various public forums and had on several occasions handed out millions of money especially in fundraisers.
During a series of visits that took place for the better part of the last week of December, the supporters including elected leaders flocked Ruto's home where they enjoyed food and drinks as well as an address from the DP.
In his address, Ruto thanked the group for honouring his invitation but steered clear of giving any money as had been expected.
Ruto reportedly used the meetings attended by governors, MPs, Senators, aspirants and voters from over 10 counties to solidify his influence which has recently been facing rebellion.
During one of his speeches, he accused the Opposition of planning to delay the 2017 election through diversionary methods such as rejecting the controversial election laws being discussed by the Senate.
He stated that the Opposition was creating roadblocks such as advocating for the disbandment of the IEBC to impede preparations for the upcoming polls.
