Senator Demands Release Of Kenyan Prisoner From Guantanamo Bay

Mombasa senator Hassan Omar has demanded the US government to release a Kenyan being help at the Guntanamo Bay prison.

Mohammed Abdul Malik Bajabu was arrested in 2007 on suspicion of being  a terrorist.

He was transferred to Guantanamo Bay a month after his arrest.

The Joint Task Force at Guantanamo Bay alleged that Bajabu was a member of the East Africa Al-Qaeda network.

They suspected that he participated in providing weapons and planning terrorist acts against US interests.

Omar, however, says Bajabu is innocent, adding that he has been cleared of the charges in the US, The Nation reports.

During his presidential campaign, Obama had promised to have it closed.
