Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga Denies Visiting State House to Broker Deal With Uhuru

  • Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga has dismissed claims that he recently visited State House to broker a deal with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Rasanga rubbished the allegations which had caused tension in the County maintaining that the reports were "lies" and propaganda.

The Governor explained that he had only visited State House twice since the Jubilee administration came to power and that he was in the company of other governors.

“Somebody is peddling lies, saying that I was spotted in State House. I want to categorically state that I have only gone to State House twice, in the presence of the other 46 Governors. Never, before have I visited State House. I am only waiting to visit when Raila Odinga occupies it,” he stated.

Earlier, Gem Member of Parliament (MP) Jakoyo Midiwo had reportedly accused Rasanga of visiting the House on the Hill to discuss the sale of Yala Swamp to Kenyatta and Deputy William Ruto.

Recently, rivalry has intensified between Midiwo, Rasanga and nominated MP Oburu Odinga over allegations of interfering with affairs of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

Oburu has also been at loggerheads with the Gem MP who is his cousin, differing over their support for the candidates for the Siaya Gubernatorial seat.

Mr Oburu has indicated that he was supporting the incumbent Governor while Midiwo has been campaigning for Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo.
