Sonko to Donate Gold Jewelry Ahead of Elections

Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko has expressed willingness to donate his expensive jewelry ahead of the 2017 elections.

Sonko also stated on Monday that he had gotten rid of his uncommon hairstyle following the decision he had taken to vie for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat.

The flashy Senator took to his Facebook page to announce the new change, adding that his new political ambitions had forced him to wear the jewelry at selected times.

“I have changed my haircut to a decent style. I can only adorn in my jewelry at night and weekends hence I am contemplating donating them. This Governor seat has issues,” he said.

The senator is commonly known for his odd hairstyles and flashy wardrobe choice including having multiple gold rings, chains and wrist bangles.

In 2012, the then Makadara MP sparked a debate in parliament after he showed up having a haircut where the word PEACE was emblazoned in the middle his head.

The then Speaker, Kenneth Marende, allowed him to keep the haircut, ruling that Sonko had not broken the rules of the house.
