Starehe MP Maina Kamanda Concedes Defeat, To Support Jaguar's Parliamentary Bid

Starehe parliamentary aspirant Charles Njagua popularly known as Jaguar has received a major boost in his political aspiration after incumbent MP Maina Kamanda dropped out of the race.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Kamanda conceded defeat after the Jubilee Party Appeals Tribunal awarded the nomination certificate to Jaguar.

The Starehe lawmaker declared that he would support the ticket winner adding that he would not ditch Jubilee to run as an independent candidate out of his loyalty to the Party.

He maintained that he would accept the verdict issued by the Appeals Tribunal adding that he would now focus on campaigning for President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election bid.

On Wednesday, the Party overturned an earlier announcement by the Starehe returning officer who had declared Kamanda as the winner of the contested nominations.

The Tribunal observed that enough evidence had been presented to prove there were massive cases of irregularities especially tampering with results from the polling stations.

It affirmed that Jaguar had won in most of the voting stations before the numbers were changed at the constituency tallying centre.

Speaking after being presented with the certificate, the musician thanked his supporters who had camped outside the party headquarters for days insisting that he be declared the winner of the polls.
