Students Caught With Dead Body Freed

Three of the five students arrested carrying a dead body were finally set free on Tuesday after being held in police custody for more than 10 days following a court order.

The three secondary school students were released by a Narok Court after the judge ruled that there was no evidence linking them to the murder of a taximan.

Narok Chief Magistrate Wilbroda Juma ruled that investigations did not reveal that the teenagers were responsible for the driver's death.

The two brothers and a form four student had been held for 10 days after a Nakuru Court ordered their detention pending investigations, which were not sufficient to convict the students.

During the hearing, the court ordered that two more suspects be held for another five days, after the prosecution claimed that they were crucial in aiding a probe into the death of the businessman.

The five were apprehended two weeks ago along Nakuru-Nyahururu road, ferrying the decomposing body of a taxi operator using a stolen Toyota Premio car.
