Thugs Rob Mwai Kibaki's Retirement Gift

A petrol station that was reportedly offered to retired President Mwai Kibaki as a gift, was on Tuesday raided by unknown thugs, barely three days after it was opened just outside Nyeri Town.

Three suspected thugs driving in a saloon car, arrived at the petrol station at around 4am where they tied up a guard and two other staff members, before making away with Sh200,000.

In what is suspected to be an inside job, the robbers forced their way into the manager’s office and broke into the safe where the money was kept.

According to Nyeri County Police Commander Eunice Kihiko, the staff stated that the robbers were only armed with a crowbar which they used to break into the office, where they accessed the safe built into the concrete floor.

Three employees at the station operated by National Oil Corporation, were arrested and taken to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations for further questioning, Nation reports.
