Traders Disguise Alcohol in Milk Packets

Second generation alcohol traders in Kirinyaga county have discovered new ways of selling their products some of which include disguising the alcohol as milk.

Others have gone to great lengths of putting the alcohol in flasks and selling it as 'hot water' to revelers, in the wake of the ongoing crackdown against the alcohol.

Speaking to The Star, chairperson of the county's Liquor Licensing Board, Nyamu Mwaura confirmed that he had received reports that the sellers of contraband brews were packaging it into containers of licensed products.

Kirinyaga central deputy commissioner Joshua Marete however warned that anyone found taking part in the illegal trade of illicit brews will face the law.

The ingenious ways of the unscrupulous traders come as a way of taking advantage of the fact that despite the crackdown and public discussions on the harmful effects of the second generation alcohol, addicts will find just about any way to get the drink they so much depend on.

The tricks continue even as the government warns that manufacturers and sellers of any toxic alcohol might be charged with murder.
