A convoy of Uasin Gishu Gubernatorial aspirant and Billionaire Businessman Zedekiah Kiprop, aka Buzeki was on Saturday evening attacked leaving five of his supporters seriously injured and his vehicles seriously damaged in Eldoret.
The chaos started when Governor Jackson Mandago's supporters attacked the Billionaire's convoy as it entered Eldoret Central Business District (CBD) shouting anti-Buzeki chants and pelting his vehicles with stones
“I had just landed from Nairobi and was in the process of thanking my supporters who voted for me in the nominations. The supporters of my competitor started pelting us with stones and injuring my supporters,” Buzeki stated.
The duo had been engaged in a heated battle for the Jubilee ticket in the just concluded party primaries that saw the incumbent governor win the nomination.
Buzeki, however, filed an appeal to the Jubilee National Elections Board on Thursday citing massive irregularities in the Uasin Gishu Gubernatorial nominations.
Earlier on, the businessman had announced that he would vie for the seat as an independent candidate.
The businessman's supporters accused Mandago of planning the attack stating that he had been shaken by the announcement.
The Billionaire will face off again with Mandago in the August 8 General Election.
