Ugandan Man Jumps From Canon Towers in Mombasa to Avoid Paying Sh30,000 Debt

A Ugandan national caused a spectacle on Tuesday after he jumped from the balcony of a building in Mombasa County to avoid paying a Sh30,000 debt.

According to witnesses, the man had gone to Canon Towers along Moi avenue for a business deal before he bumped into the man he owed the debt.

The creditor is said to have threatened to call the police if the debtor, whom he accused of always switching off his phone, didn't immediately pay the Sh30,000.

Amid the scuffle, the Ugandan managed to escape and jumped through the window on the third floor of the building in an attempt to commit suicide.

Unfortunately for him, he fell on a tuk-tuk that was near the building and sustained serious injuries on his legs and hands.

Officers who had been alerted immediately pounced on him for trying to kill himself and failure to pay the debt.

Residents, who gathered to witness the drama, claimed that the man was notorious for declining to pay debts.

Here is the photo of the tuk-tuk where the man fell on:
