Uhuru to Name Jubilee Interim Officials This Week

President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto have been forced to change the date for unveiling of the Jubilee interim officials following the recent infightings over the constitution of the party's campaign teams for various regions.

Speaking in Kurgung High School on Sunday in Mosop, Nandi County, Ruto announced that all Jubilee leaders and aspirants would meet this week and elect interim officials in all 47 counties.

"All Jubilee elected leaders and all aspirants should sit down so that we agree on interim officials in every county who will help us coordinate all activities until we do the party elections after the General Election next year," Ruto stated.

The DP also made it clear that the officials will represent the voice of the people on the ground in a bid to calm the uproar that has been witnessed in different counties over the campaign teams.

“We want to run a party that is fair to its supporters. Our officials should reflect what our supporters want,” the DP affirmed.

Since the unveiling of the Jubilee campaign team, a lot of chaos have been witnessed in the party with most aspirants opposing the teams on grounds that they are composed of incumbent politicians hence fears that they would be protecting their interests during nominations.

It is these concerns that have prompted Kenyatta to change his earlier plan of naming the interim officials three months after the 2017 elections, a decision which sources say was made during the retreat at Sagana State Lodge.

The officials will be elected by supporters and other Jubilee leaders in their respective counties to ensure residents have a hand in picking them.
