Uhuru & Obama Open the Global Entrepreneurship Summit

President Uhuru Kenyatta and U.S President Barack Obama today morning opened the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) at the United Nations headquarters in Gigiri.

After an introduction by media personality Julie Gichuru, Kenyatta and Obama took to the podium amid cheers.

The two presidents were in  a cheerful mood, with Uhuru at some point taking a jab at the recent social media war against CNN over terror remarks.

Uhuru encouraged investors to explore the beauty of Kenya, reitarating that Kenya is open and ready for business.

He referred to Kenya as “a hotbed of vibrant culture, spectacular beauty, wonderful people and possibilities,” The Standard reports.

On his part, President Barack Obama opted to use sheng in his greeting.

His greeting, “Niaje wasee, Hawayuni”, had the attending guests laughing and clapping.

He painted Africa as a rising continent with potential, encouraging participants to take advantage of the summit.

He is expected at the US Embassy to meet officials before heading to the US Embassy memorial park in the city centre.

Obama will later in the afternoon head to State House for a ceremonial welcome and talks with President Uhuru Kenyatta ahead of a state dinner.
