Unknown People Distribute Leaflets Warning DP Ruto from Visiting Rift Valley

Panic has gripped parts of the Rift Valley region after unknown people started distributing leaflets threatening Deputy President William Ruto.

The leaflets were dropped in parts of the South Rift including Kericho and Bomet Counties where Ruto is expected to accompany President Uhuru Kenyatta in a series of development tours.

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, however, downplayed the threats adding that the DP would not be stopped from doing his duty.

“We know the President and his deputy have work to do, I hear there are people who are doing leaflets saying this and that. I want to tell them that Ruto is not the deputy president of the Kalenjin,” Murkomen stated.

The Jubilee allied Senator also dismissed criticism directed at the DP over accusations of neglecting the Kalenjin community stating that Ruto was doing a good job for the entire country.

On Friday, President Kenyatta will pitch camp in Kericho county where he will be joined by his deputy and a section of local leaders who are allied to the Jubilee coalition.

The tour is expected to calm feelings of discontent in the vote-rich South-Rift region that was crucial in delivering victory to the Jubilee team during the 2013 election.
