Social media has become a hotspot for pedophiles and sexual predators where they harbour, plan and execute various sexual offenses.
The victims, mostly innocent teenagers, are lured by the sex offenders through fake social media accounts. Such accounts appear attractive; highly embellished profiles with too good to be true personalities and looks.
The charmer would take their time, seem to be in no haste to meet the victim. and gradually gain trust with the victim.The victims will eventually end up giving up their phone numbers, even home addresses.
Long late night phone calls will ensue. Nice warm chats, subtle flirts and much giggling from the unsuspecting teenager.
Eventually the predator lures the teen to their lair, mostly a private place of their choice. With too much trust and apparent familiarity from daily chats and phone calls, the victims hardly think of the lurking dangers. They give in to the 'date' without much thought.
