VIDEO: Joho Violently Grabs Sonko in Public

The scuffle between Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko and Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho went a notch higher over the weekend, when the two almost came to blows right before the launch of President Uhuru Kenyatta's street lighting project in Mombasa.

Governor Joho was standing in a line up of leaders who were welcoming guests into the event when Senator Sonko came by. Joho saw Sonko stretch his hand to greet him but he snubbed him completely.

The Governor was then seen grabbing Sonko's shirt in a spurt of anger, prompting leaders in the line up to quickly separate the two.

During the event, the two had to leave an empty seat between them, with the function proceeding without the duo uttering any words to one another.

This comes barely a week after Sonko and Joho publicly attacked each other in front of President Kenyatta during the issuance of title deeds to squatters of the Waitiki land in Likoni.

Speaking last week during an interview on Pilipili FM,  the Senator brushed off claims that they were enemies with the Mombasa Governor, citing that they even hugged and chatted on Tuesday during the official opening of English Point Marina.

The latest incident brought into question why the two leaders have suddenly been on each other's necks despite their different job descriptions.
