Wetangula Reveals Raila Shocked Him

Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula on Sunday claimed that he was yet to know why his political ally Raila Odinga failed to attend the launch of his 2017 presidential bid in Kakamega

According to Wetangula, the absence of the former Prime Minister on Saturday was surprising, since he was invited and had confimred his attendance.

“The rally was attended by CORD leaders, Raila had informed us that he would attend but he didn’t come, we don’t want to speculate why...I do not want to be a prophet of doom,” he said.

The Bungoma Senator sought to dispel claims that his interest in becoming the Opposition's flag bearer in next year's presidential election was putting the CORD coalition unity to test.

"Come what may we as CORD must work together to bring change to this country.” Citizen Digital quotes Wetangula.

The Bungoma Senator further urged police to expedite investigations into the chaos that rocked his rally at the Muliro gardens where several people were injured.

Chaos reigned after ODM and Ford Kenya supporters clashed, shortly before two teargas canisters were hurled at the dais hence a stampede.

After skipping Wetangula's function, Raila accompanied by his wife Ida Odinga and daughter Winnie Odinga flew to Tanzania for a holiday.

The Office of the President in Tanzania indicated that the former Prime Minister landed at Chato Secondary School at around 5pm, then proceeded to meet Tanzanian President John Pombe Magufuli and his wife Janeth Magufuli at their home in Kilimani Village in Geita Province.

Meanwhile, CORD has accused the Jubilee coalition of being behind the fracass witnessed at the rally.

“We wish to remind Jubilee that the CORD Principals are ideologically united and cannot fall for such cheap state sponsored mechanizations and assure our supporters that the CORD coalition remains united than hitherto,” the Coalition's CEO Norman Magaya asserted.

Mr Magaya accused plain clothe police officers of harming innocent citizens and disrupting "a peaceful" rally, noting that police must explain why a teargas canister would be lobbed at the main dais where the coalition leadership was seated.
