What Ngilu Said to Government

Suspended Lands Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu, on Sunday, declared that she would not be leaving the government any time soon.

The CS who was asked to step aside following graft allegations, in March, accused powerful cartels for conspiring to force her out of office.

“The people who want to see me out are powerful cartels who wine, dine and dance with equally powerful people in the government and simply do not want development,” she said.

Speaking at a fundraiser in Athi River, Machakos County, Ms Ngilu stated that her ultimate objective was to serve Kenyans because it was her job.

Other Ukambani leaders present condemned the retaining of Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru in the Devolution docket despite the “evident corruption” in her ministry.

"The fight against graft must be fought in equal measures for all. I wonder why Anne Waiguru is still in office while our own Ngilu remains suspended," said Makueni MP Daniel Maanzo.

Charity Ngilu was suspended from office in March to give space for the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commision to determine the extent of truth in the charges leveled against her.

The charges included, colluding with land owner Evanson Waitiki to swindle the government of Sh110 Million Shillings by overstating the value of a piece of land in Mombasa, grabbing land near State House road Nairobi and obstruction of investigation into the Karen land saga.
