Wilfred Machage Advises Raila Over 2017 Elections

An Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Senator has claimed that the Luo Community might cost party leader Raila Odinga his 2017 presidential bid.

Speaking in an interview with a local daily, Migori Senator Wilfred Machage noted that some leaders from the Luo community were dominating ODM affairs in a manner that could push away other communities from supporting Odinga.

"The Luo community who are the major stakeholders in ODM in Nyanza should avoid pride. They will destroy Raila's votes from the minorities,” he stated.

Also, Mr Machage advised the Opposition leader to avoid associating himself with "busybodies".

“Dialogue must be entertained… He must listen to advice from true leaders and not from busybodies who cost him the last elections,” he was quoted by the Standard.

He further allayed fears of having fallen out with the party after failing to turn up during most of Odinga's rallies in his County maintaining that he was still in ODM.

Machage clarified that he did not have a duty of always following Raila to all meetings he was attending despite having much respect for him.

“In case my party leader needs to go somewhere and my presence is needed, it would be better if he picked his phone and said: "I am going to your place, could you accompany me?” he stated.
