Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka's Foundation Moves to Court After Closure by NGO Board

The tussle between National Super Alliance (NASA) Presidential running mate Kalonzo Musyoka and the NGO Coordination Board has taken a new twist after the former Vice President's Foundation moved to court early Monday morning.

According to reports, the Kalonzo Musyoka Foundation moved to court seeking orders to stop the freezing of its accounts at the I&M bank and harassment of its officials.

The move by the Foundation comes days after the NGO Coordination Board said that the organization could not account for Sh146 Million.

The board’s Executive Director Fazul Mahamed had through a letter claimed that there was sufficient cause to warrant forensic investigations into the affairs of the Kalonzo Musyoka Foundation on possible cases of money laundering and diversion of donor aid.

This was, however, protested by Mr Musyoka who claimed that Fazul’s actions were politically motivated and that the foundation would consider legal action against him.

The Wiper Party leader in a veiled attack, hit out at Deputy President William Ruto, blaming him for the closure of his foundation.

“We know people who were driven by vendetta and it is number two and his people,” he said. “I am not exonerating President Uhuru Kenyatta but I would be very surprised if he would besmirch a family,” said Kalonzo.

He claimed that Ruto was abusing his powers as Deputy President to unfairly target his vicious critics, with an aim of subjecting them to submission.
