Wiper Party Replaces Senator Johnstone Muthama With Jackson Kala for Senatorial Race

The Wiper Party has replaced Senator Johnstone Muthama as its choice for the Machakos senatorial seat in the August 8 General Election.

In an unprecedented decision early Thursday morning, Senator Muthama was replaced by Mr Jackson Musyoka Kala after he (Muthama) declared that he would not vie for the seat over irregularities and favouritism in the party.

Wiper’s National Executive Committee (NEC) arrived at the decision after holding a meeting today to deliberate on Muthama’s action conduct over the much-publicized fallout with Wiper Party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka.

Mr Kala, a former Education Chief Executive Officer in Governor Alfred Mutua’s government, was reportedly handed the party’s ticket to fly for the senatorial seat.

Wiper's Thursday NEC meeting was set to interrogate Senator Muthama on whether he would defend his seat and to deliberate on any disciplinary action against him.

Earlier on, Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jr had revealed that sharp differences had emerged in the party over Senator Muthama declaration that he would severe ties with Mr Musyoka.
