Wundanyi MP Thomas Mwadeghu Dismisses Repeat of Taita Taveta ODM Governor Nominations

Taita Taveta Governor hopeful and Wundanyi Member of Parliament (MP) Thomas Mwadeghu has emphasised that he shall not accept a repeat of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) gubernatorial nomination exercise in the five polling stations in Taveta sub-county.

Speaking to a local daily, Mwadeghu indicated that the primaries were over and urged the National Elections Board (NEB) to declare him as the ODM Taita Taveta Gubernatorial aspirant.

"I am not going for a repeat for primaries in the county. The party's National Election Board should declare me ODM gubernatorial candidate," he stated.

Provisional results announced last Wednesday by the Taita Taveta County Returning Officer, Lawrence Sempele indicated that the Wundanyi MP had beaten the Incumbent Governor, John Mruttu.

The returning officer further stated that the legislator had won the nomination fairly and he went ahead to award him with a provisional certificate that indicated Mr Mwadeghu had won the elections.

Last week, the ODM Party National Elections Board had suspended nomination results after it emerged that party members in five polling stations in Taveta sub-county did not cast their ballot.

The National Elections Board had indicated that the primaries in the five polling stations were supposed to be conducted on Saturday but were later cancelled at the eleventh hour.
