Murder Witnesses Arrested for Destroying County Vehicle

Two women were arrested on Thursday after they were caught vandalising a Nairobi County Government vehicle.

Josephine Wambui and Naomi Ndida, who are currently witnesses in a case involving the murder of a hawker, smashed four glass windows of the car valued at Sh15,000.

The two, who are hawkers along Tom Mboya Street, were taken to Central Police Station and charged in court on Friday before Chief Magistrate Daniel Ogembo. They denied the charges and were released on a Sh10,000 cash bail or a bond of Sh100,000.

The case will be heard on February 18.

Ms Wambui and Ms Ndida are also expected in court to testify against county officers Ambani Akasi, alias Wasi Wasi, Alfred Ongesi alias Brown and Mr Julius Ochieng, who were charged for the murder of a hawker, Irungu Kamau, on September 2013 along Duruma Road in Nairobi.
