DP Ruto's Spokesman David Mugonyi Claims ODM MP Junet Mohamed Threatened Him

Deputy President William Ruto's spokesman David Mugonyi on Wednesday claimed that Suna East Member of Parliament (MP) Junet Mohamed had threatened his life.

Mugonyi recorded a statement with the police alleging that the legislator had told one of his friends that he would deal with him personally for crafting a press statement linking his family to the Sh1.6 Billion NYS scam.

According to Ruto's spokesman, who now wants the police to take action against the Suna East MP, he made the threat during a live interview on Citizen TV on Tuesday night.

However, speaking to a local daily, Junet refuted the claims stating that he had never even met Mugonyi.

"He must be a mad man speaking on behalf of his masters who sent him to craft the malicious statement.

"I do not know him and have never met him. He should provide evidence that I made such threats," Junet affirmed.

On Tuesday, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wa unveiled a statement which indicated that Junet benefited from the NYS theft through fraudulent transactions using two companies linked to him.

According to the documents produced, Zeigham Enterprises Limited — a company registered on 30 July 2012 with Mr Mohammed as its director — conducted business with NYS and supplied goods worth Sh21.8 Million.

The second firm was identified as Fahaza Limited apparently belonging to Junet's sister —  Hafsa Sheikh Nuh —  who is also the wife to Hassan Noor, the former chief of staff at the Devolution Ministry. Mr Noor is also one of the suspects in the NYS scandal.

According to the reports, Fahaza Ltd was granted a contract worth Sh51.8 Million.

Meanwhile, Junet has since denied being the director of the said companies, with documents showing that ownership was changed in 2015.
