SK Macharia Cursed by Kikuyu Elders in Murang'a County

Kikuyu elders have made good their threat to curse Citizen TV owner SK Macharia after he failed to apologise for what they termed as a betrayal of their people.

On Wednesday, over 100 Kikuyu elders from different parts of Kenya gathered in Ndakaini village, Murang'a County, where Macharia's home is located, and slaughtered a single-coloured he-goat and roasted it.

In the major ceremony, the elders muttered curses against Macharia before they pierced the meat with thorns, which according to them, signalled the wrath that would follow the media mogul.

“This is real. It is no joke. We gave him the mandatory 14 days to apologise to the community for exposing them to attacks by other communities especially in this electioneering period,” Muranga’s County Kikuyu chairman, Kiarii Rugami stated.

It all began with a mere warning last month when the elders gave Macharia an ultimatum to apologise for claiming that ODM leader Raila Odinga won the 2007 Elections, while he (SK) was making submissions on the controversial Election (Amendment) Bill 2016 in Parliament.

The Kikuyu elders came out and termed the remarks reckless and warned Macharia that if he didn’t apologise in 14 days, they would march to his home in Murang’a and curse him for the utterances which they said could lead to bloodshed as the country nears the August 8 Elections.

Mr Rugami warned that the curse would affect Machari'a businesses and generations for exposing the Kikuyu community with the intention of causing bloodshed in 90 days.
