President Uhuru Kenyatta Attacks Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho Ahead of SGR Launch

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday launched a new attack on his fierce critic, Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho.

The President, while addressing residents at Port Reitz Mombasa during the launch of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) cargo freight services, noted that the Governor had failed to deal with the garbage problem in the County.

Kenyatta also dismissed claims by Joho that his government had done nothing for the Coastal people stating that his administration had implemented projects worth billions of shillings in the Coast region.

The Head of State warned Joho to keep off Jubilee projects and focus more on completing his term and delivering what he promised Mombasa residents.

"The Governor has been criticising our projects here at the Coast including this SGR project.

"He should focus on completing at least one of his own like building dykes or cleaning the city before he starts looking elsewhere," Kenyatta affirmed.

Kenyatta also challenged the Governor to show cause why he should be re-elected for a second term and show the projects he had initiated since being elected to office

He urged the residents to shun the Opposition and vote for Jubilee during the August 8 election on the basis of their development record.

Deputy President William Ruto on his part noted that the construction of the SGR was Uhuru's biggest legacy stating that it will improve the transport infrastructure in the country.

"It will go down in history that after over 100 years when the lunatic rail was built in this country, President Uhuru Kenyatta oversaw the construction of a modern rail that will revolutionize this country," Ruto stated.

On Sunday, Governor Joho had threatened to disrupt the SGR launch highlighting that the government needed to explain the escalating corruption in the country. The Governor, however, did not attend yesterday's event.
