Former Bomachoge Borabu MP Joel Onyancha is dead.

The ex-lawmaker died aged 57 while receiving treatment in Nairobi.

His brother, Evans Onyancha, confirmed the former Legislator's demise on Wednesday night stating that Mr Onyancha died at the Aga Khan Hospital after an abrupt illness.

According to Evans, his brother might have suffered from an acute attack.

"He was watching the Supreme Court proceedings before being rushed to hospital by family members after he started feeling unwell," Evans told the Nation.

The former MP vied for the Bomachoge Borabu parliamentary seat in the August 8 elections on a Jubilee ticket but lost to independent candidate Zadock Ogutu and had filed a petition seeking to overturn the outcome.

Previously, Onyancha was an assistant Minister in the Ministry of National Heritage and Culture and served in the same capacity in the Sports Ministry.
