Voters File Petition To Kick Out Justices Jackton Ojwang' and Njoki Ndung'u From Supreme Court

Two voters on Monday filed a petition with the Judicial Service Commission seeking the censure of Supreme Court judges Jackton Ojwang' and Njoki Ndung'u.

The petition cites gross misconduct on the part of the two judges as the main reason why they should be removed from office.

The two judges delivered dissenting rulings in the Supreme Court's nullification of President Uhuru Kenyatta's win in the August 8 election due to irregularities and illegalities committed by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

This is the latest in a series of petitions filed seeking the removal of various members of the Supreme Court bench.

The first was filed by Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu who sought removal of Chief Justice David Maraga from office on grounds of gross misconduct in the hearing of the petition challenging President Kenyatta's win.

Mr Wambugu eventually dropped the petition, citing the 'current political environment'.

A second petition was filed seeking the removal of Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu and Justice Isaac Lenaola a day before the delivery of the detailed judgement on the nullification of the August 8 presidential election results.

It claimed the judges had improper contact with National Super Alliance(NASA) lawmakers during the hearing.

The latest came from former Law Society of Kenya CEO Apollo Mboya who is seeking the removal of Justice Njoki Ndung'u from office.

Mboya's petition cites Ms Njoki's mistake as "total lack of courtesy and civility towards her colleagues on the bench of the Supreme Court" during the delivery of her dissenting ruling.
