3 Reasons Why I Dumped NASA- Hassan Omar Reveals

Former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar has given the three reasons that made him dump the National Super Alliance (NASA) and decide to support President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking in Mombasa on Sunday, the Former Wiper Secretary General revealed that the NASA leadership was not supportive of his candidature  whilst attacking the politicians who are not well educated stating; "It is unfortunate that we have glorified academic dwarfism at the expense of real academics."

While addressing the supporters, he revealed that after losing the senatorial race, neither of the National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders bothered to call him.

He stated that the Deputy President William Ruto was the first person to console him urging him not to quit politics yet. This, he said made him vow to support Mr Kenyatta in the upcoming poll.

He further revealed that it was Jubilee supporters who helped gather evidence that informed his decision to challenge the Mombasa gubernatorial election results.

"People affiliated to Jubilee are the ones who actually raised the fact that the election had irregularities and some even signed the affidavits that I used to support my case," he explained.

Thirdly, he conveyed that he did not agree with how he fell-out with NASA leadership after then, Cord, forced former IEBC boss Isaac Hassan-led team out of office. He said he was targeted because he came from the minority group.

The former senator said Cord did not have the one million signature to trigger its 'Okoa Kenya' bid.

He vowed to defend the current Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) CEO Ezra Chiloba against NASA ahead of the repeat presidential election slated for October 26.

“I am ready to defend this young man because the Supreme Court found no culpability on any of the IEBC officials. You cannot support or respect one side of the decision and not the other,” Omar pledged.
