Fred Matiang'i Sued Over NASA Demos

Acting Interior CS Fred Matiang'i has been sued by National Super Alliance CEO Norman Magaya after issuing an order of arrest of the Opposition leader.

On Monday, Mr Magaya moved to court to prevent the police from arresting him over the ongoing anti-IEBC demos.

In addition to the Interior CS, the NASA leader is suing Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinet and Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko.

In his case, the NASA Leader urges the court to intervene as his rights are at risk of being violated.

Mr Magaya further wants the ban against protests in Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu CBDs lifted adding that citizens have a right to take part in peaceful demonstrations.

Moreover, he's accused the police of engaging in excessive force and discriminatory killings in NASA regions.

Last week, Mr Magaya wrote to Matiang’i through his lawyer Apollo Mboya, warning the CS against threatening to charge him.

Earlier reports indicated that the NASA leader had reportedly been hiding since Thursday after learning police were searching for him.

This was after Dr Matiang'i announced that Magaya would be charged for organizing NASA's anti-IEBC protests which turned chaotic.

Police officers stated that they had visited various places in the city where Magaya frequented looking for him in vain.

“If you see him tell him to report to police in Nairobi Area,” one senior officer stated.
