CS Fred Matiang'i Speaks After Shooting of DCJ Philomena Mwilu's Bodyguard

Acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has spoken out after the unfortunate shooting of Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu's driver.

Dr Matiang'i met with Chief Justice David Maraga and the DCJ shortly after the incident and confirmed that the driver was admitted to hospital following the injuries and was in stable condition.

The acting Interior CS added that he had met with Inspector General Joseph Boinnet and Nairobi Police Commander Japheth Koome to beef up security for the members of the judiciary.

"I have also met IG Boinnet and Nairobi County Commander Koome who are working to ensure the complete security of all members of the Judiciary," Dr Matiang'i tweeted.

The CS did not confirm any further details on the matter that has startled Kenyans with some suspecting foul play.

"We have launched an investigation and we are looking for the criminals who shot the DCJ’s driver," Mr Koome stated at the scene of the crime.

DCJ Mwilu's driver and bodyguard, Titus Musyoka, was shopping for a flower pot in Nairobi's Hurlingham area when he was attacked by unknown assailants.

The attackers took away his gun before assaulting him and leaving him for dead.

They fled the scene on a motorbike and the guard was rushed to the Nairobi Women's Hospital.
