High Court Judge George Odunga Transferred

Chief Justice David Maraga on Tuesday announced the transfer of Nairobi High Court Judge George Odunga.

Justice Odunga has been transferred to Machakos High Court from Nairobi whereas Judge Joel Ngugi has been moved to Nakuru High Court and Pauline Nyamweya to Nairobi High Court.

In an official letter signed by the President of the Judiciary, Maraga highlighted the transfer of 14 High Court judges.

Judge Odunga has in the past dealt with a number of senior political cases.

Meanwhile, President Uhuru Kenyatta has nominated Prof Olive Mugenda to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

Kenyatta also nominated Patrick Gichohi and Felix Koskei to the same Commission.

The list came out hours after President Kenyatta declared the resignation of Attorney General Githu Muigai after his ten years of service.

On his Twitter timeline, Kenyatta stated: "I have received with regret the resignation of Attorney General Prof Githu Muigai."

The President has appointed Judge Paul Kihara Kariuki as the AG's replacement.
