Billionaire Chris Kirubi Tops Kenya Google Searches in March

Billionaire businessman Chris Kirubi was ranked as the top most searched topic on the Google search engine for the month of March 2018.

The Centum director elicited high curiosity after a photo of him and Chamber of Commerce boss Kiprono Kittony emerged online.

Following his long absence from the public, Kenyans were shocked when Mr Kirubi appeared emaciated on the photo.

The tycoon left Kenya close to six months prior to the shocking photo with reports indicating that he went to the United States to seek specialised treatment.

In second place was renowned scientist Stephen Hawking who passed away at the age of 76 on March 14.

The British genius had battled amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) for 50 years and is the author of world's best selling book "A Brief History of Time".

Former US secretary of state Rex Tillerson also topped searched after President Donald Trump fired him soon after his return from a State visit to Kenya.

Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula came in at number seven on the top searches as Kenyans sought details of his ouster from the Senate Minority leader post.

Betting site Sportspesa also topped searches as Kenyans sought information on how to register onto the site.

Other "How To" searches that emerged at the top included "How to delete a Facebook account" at number two, "How to play Lotto" and "How to file KRA returns" at number three and four respectively.
