Victim of Moi Girls' Rape Case Narrates Ordeal at the Hands of Her Assailant

The form 2 student who was raped at Moi Girls' High School Nairobi on Monday narrated her ordeal in the hands of her assailants.

Speaking to the detectives carrying out investigations at the school following the unfortunate incident, the student told the police that she had left her cubicle at around 2:30 am heading to the washrooms when she met her assailant.

According to her, it was while she was on her way to the toilet when she met a man whom she thought was one of the school watchmen.

The man then asked her where she was headed to and she told him that she was heading to the washrooms.

She added that the man continued to walk towards the opposite direction as she entered the toilet, however she noted that she did not lock the door behind her.

It was then that her assailant flashed open the door to the toilet and grabbed her, warning her not to scream as he allegedly pulled her towards the cleaning area where he then forced himself on her.
She further divulged to the investigators that she was so shocked that she could not scream.

According to the detectives carrying out the investigations, apart from the three girls from the same cubicle, no other student mentioned that they heard any commotion that night.

A second student, who sleeps in the same cubicle as the victim, also disclosed that she had someone pull her out of bed and pulled her through to the washroom area where she found her colleague lying on the stone slab floor.

Unlike her colleague, she was able to wrestle the man scaring him away.

The third girl noted that she was also dragged to the washroom area by another man who attempted to touch her breasts but she resisted and also wrestled him.

It was then that, they stated, the second man also took off.

The students described their attacker as a short stout man of light complexion with squinted eyes.

On Monday evening, investigators had made proposals to charge watchmen at the school as the first suspects of the crime.

Additionally, they made a proposal to press charges against the six security guards who were on duty that night for failing to prevent a crime.

This was after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) ordered all male teachers, security guards and male relatives of teachers living in the compound of the school to undergo a mandatory DNA test.
