Karungo wa Thang'wa Lands Cabinet Job

Renowned radio presenter has been sworn in as a member of the cabinet in Kiambu County Government.

The popular vernacular presenter Karungo wa Thang’wa has been sworn in as the new County Executive Committee (CEC) in charge of Roads, Transport and Public Works.

Karungo is mandated to manage and coordinate functions of the county administration in matters concerning infrastructure.

He will also manage utility services such as fire prevention, rescue services, rural electrification among others.

Until his appointment, he was a radio presenter at Gukena FM.

He started his political career in 2012 when he was successfully elected as Ngewa ward MCA.

In his first tenure in office, he was mostly famous for his opposition to how former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo run the county.

In 2017, he vied for Kiambu senator seat but lost to incumbent Kimani wa Matangi.

The 37-year-old and father of two was born in Githunguri and first came to the limelight as a Kameme FM presenter in 2001.

He later left his post in the station and flew to China where he became a disk jokey (DJ).
