DP Ruto Outsmarts Gideon Moi at Church Fundraiser

Deputy President William Ruto and Gideon Moi have extended their rivalry to parts of Central Kenya in scenes drawn from a fundraiser in Kiharu, Murang’a County.

The Baringo Senator was invited to attend a harambee at Gitui Catholic Church in Kiharu Constituency on Sunday.

The Deputy President at the time was presiding over a fundraiser at the All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi where he presented the clergy with a green bag full of crispy notes.

Sources told local dailies that Ruto’s offer for the church amounted to at least Sh8 Million all given in cash.

On Gideon Moi’s side, it was a cold day in Central Kenya as area leaders failed to accompany him to the Harambee.

He dished out Sh 1 Million to the church.

Instead of playing good hosts for the Baringo Senator, the leaders opted to attend the All Saints Cathedral fundraiser with the deputy president.

Led by Murang’a Woman Representative Sabina Chege and area MP Ndidi Nyoro, they later joined Ruto at a nyama choma fete in Nairobi.

Moi was only left in the company of Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku, who worse still claimed he was surprised to have met the KANU chairman at the event.

“I did not know I would meet my friend Gideon Moi here but I'm happy we shall contribute to the development of the church. I had notified Governor Mwangi wa Iria that I would be around and I have his blessings," stated Governor Lenku.

According to the Gitui Church fundraiser organizers, Moi alongside several other leaders had been invited to the function.

Jubilee leaders are said to have snubbed Senator Moi so as to prove they were in solidarity with the DP Ruto who is keen on the 2022 presidential poll.
