Plate of Ugali Lands Senator Kipchumba Murkomen in Trouble

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen on Sunday rubbed tweeps the wrong way after he posted photos of him taking a meal of Ugali with Deputy President William Ruto.

The photos showed Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung'wa and a host of Ruto allies taking their nyama choma (barbequed meat) and ugali.

Captioning the photos, Murkomen had attributed the meal to the generosity of Ichung'wa to which he wrote "Thank you Kimani Ichung'wa for the treat".

But, the photos allegedly taken at the Njuguna's - a popular eatery joint in Westlands, Nairobi - became a subject of scorn and rebuke against Murkomen and his team.

Contrary to the awe and admiration that such photos have attracted in the past, a section of netizens was infuriated by the Murkomen's post terming it as unwelcome show-off.

What a primitive lot! Apparently murkomen thinks that by posting this photo, kenyans will identify with them on the basis that they eat similar foods as other kenyans. Again, this is a very unhealthy diet that doesn't need publicity. What an unfortunate situation we are in!

Really?? must you post this here? Senator some things are meant to be private I guess. Pple don't need this.

The fact that a majority of those present for the meal were leaders affiliated with DP Ruto's camp, now informally referred to as "Team tanga tanga" did not help matters.

A section of Ruto's allies have been accussed of sabotaging President Uhuru Kenyatta's legacy project, the Big Four Agenda, by dwelling on the 2022 succession politics.

Some of the leaders have, however, opined that its their constitutional right to choose whom to support going forward.

On his part, the President has warned against such a move indicating that the country has suffered enough during the protracted electioneering period witnessed in 2007.

Here are some of the swipes that the netizens directed to the team of leaders:

It's a true symbolism of how the tangatanga team has eaten and still intending to eat Taxpayers resources. We've been shown the sign..We'll resist ur greed..meanwhile #hatunadeniyamtu.
