Moments after setting the new 72-hour tree-hugging world record at the Nyeri County Governor's office, the young environmentalist Truphena Muthoni was quickly whisked away by an ambulance from the scene.

According to reports, this was to allow her to undergo health checks and eat after spending days and nights in the cold with little to eat.

The young environmentalist set the new world record in front of a jubilant crowd who had travelled from all over the country to support her.

The 22-year-old had spent three days without eating, hugging the tree at the governor's office, where she had embarked on a marathon attempt to beat her own previous record of hugging a tree for 48 hours.

Truphena's journey to set the new record was not easy - she had to brave rainy nights while hugging the tree. Despite all the challenges, she pushed on.

Kenyans of all walks of life travelled to Nyeri to support her from the first day she began her attempt to set the new world record.

Several Kenyans braved the night keeping the young environmentalist company as they cheered her on during her silent activism.

Kenyans of goodwill also took the moment to gift Muthoni even before she broke the record. The gifts include monetary gifts, a high-end smartphone, and an all-expenses-paid holiday, tokens of admiration for her extraordinary endurance.

Guinness World Record

After breaking the world record, Muthoni and her team shall document the entire record-breaking marathon, backed with evidence and at least two witnesses.

She will also be required to provide time keepers' statements, surveyors' statements, and log books as specified in the Guinness World Record guidelines.

The Records Management Team will then assess Muthoni's submitted evidence of breaking the record. The standard review time can take between 5 days to 12 weeks.

Once the evidence has been approved and the attempt has been deemed successful, Muthoni will officially be declared a Guinness World Records holder for setting the 72-hour tree-hugging record, and she will receive an official certificate.

However, if her attempt is unsuccessful or the evidence is insufficient, she will be notified with an explanation.
