Sharon Momanyi Ditches KTN for Citizen TV

KTN has suffered a huge blow after it lost another award-winning journalist to rival station Citizen TV.

Sharon Momanyi is understood to have handed in her resignation and is now serving notice.

The news anchor won the Journalist of the Year Award alongside Hussein Mohammed at the Media Council of Kenya Annual Journalism Excellence Awards (AJEA) 2018 held last week.

Momanyi is expected to fill the shoes of Anne Mawathe, Mercy Kandie and Sylvia Chebet, who recently joined BBC.

Her surprise move has deteriorated the situation at the Standard Media-owned station which has lost most of its key journalists to Citizen and BBC.

Momanyi is an alumni of Daystar University and she joined KTN in April 2013.

The correspondent was promoted to Features Editor two months ago to replace Asha Mwilu who was poached by Citizen TV.

The media house has already lost Yvonne Okwara, Mashirima Kapombe and Joe Ageyo to Royal Media Services.

According to businesstoday.co.ke, the Mombasa road-based station is experiencing a mass exodus as journalists are looking for better paying companies.

The newsroom is now left with Managing Editor Ellen Wanjiru, news editor Odeo Sirari and Paul Nabiswa with a few reporters and upcoming presenters.
