4 Die After Road Crash in Naivasha

Four people died and six others were seriously injured in a road crash involving a matatu and a lorry in Naivasha.

The incident is reported to have occurred on Tuesday evening when a matatu and truck collided near Kari along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway.

Eyewitnesses stated that the driver of the truck hit a pedestrian who was crossing the road.

"In a flash, I saw the truck driver swerve to our side before I heard a deafening sound," a witness, James Thuku narrated.

The lorry then crashed head-on with an oncoming matatu headed to Nyahururu.

Another witness learned of the death of his brother when he was caught up in the ensuing traffic.

Rev John Wachira conveyed that he stopped at the scene of the accident and upon a glance, realised that it was his brother who was driving the matatu involved in the accident.

“On checking, I realised it was my brother who was actually involved in the accident,” he stated amid tears.

The injured were taken to Naivasha Sub-County Hospital for treatment while the deceased were transported to the hospital's mortuary.
