Akisa Wandera Joins KTN Prime Time News Desk

In March 2016, she was only 25-years-old when joining KTN News, perhaps among the youngest news presenters in the country at the time.

Ushering her onto the 24-hour new channel was news anchor Ben Kitili.

Mr Kitili introduced the youngster to the viewers noting: “Allow me to introduce to you the next big thing in the Kenyan media. The latest addition to KTN’s exceptional pool of talent. Akisa Wandera.

On Monday, August 28, 2018, Akisa announced to her fans that she is now part of the KTN News prime time newsdesk.

“This is my good luck dress. Good things have happened while in it. This pose was random and that smile is my weapon always.

“Tonight, I officially join the Prime Time desk. I'm yet to decide how I feel about it, but for now ..I feel thankful. Thank you for always being such a strong support system. See you at 9 o'clock,” she announced on her social media.

Akisa joined KTN when Citizen TV, in its usual moves, ploughed into the station’s newsdesk walking away with top talents in 2016.

Prior to her debut at KTN, the soft-spoken Akisa worked at Ebru TV since March 2014 where she was a News Anchor and presenter for a TV show dubbed Tabletalk.

She joined Ebru TV from Korea-owned GBS TV station where she’d worked since her graduation from the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication in 2013.

The KTN prime time anchor Yvonne Okwara left the station to form part of Citizen TV’s dream team at Royal Media Services while Betty Kyallo is yet to make an appearance at her new workplace.

KTN moved to introduce new faces to its screens forcing its top management to rope in young and fresh voices to its newsdesk.

Youthful Zindzi Kibiku is among those who’ve been shovelled over to news assignments as Akisa takes up her space on the prime hours’ seat.
