Prince William to Visit Kenya on September 30

United Kingdom's Prince William is expected in Kenya for an official visit from September 30.

The trip is part of a larger tour of the African continent that will also see him travel to Tanzania and Namibia.

The British government announced that William would visit the British Army Training Unit Kenya (BATUK) in Nanyuki, Laikipia County, on September 30.

“His Royal Highness will visit the 1st Battalion Irish Guards Battlegroup, which will be training under BATUK, in his role as Colonel of the Regiment,”  read a statement issued by communication officer Alice Simpson.

Simpson further noted that the Irish Guards Battlegroup would include an Infantry Company from the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).

William is expected to see for himself how British and Kenyan troops train together in the country, with plans afoot to enhance co-operation.

William was last in Kenya in March 2016 and met President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House.

Among key issues they discussed were security co-operation and wildlife conservation.

The two also met in April this year at the at Windsor Castle in London as Uhuru was attending the Commonwealth Heads of State Summit.

Previously, he excited tourism stakeholders after proposing to Kate Middleton in 2010 at Kenya's Lewa Wildlife Conservancy.
