Police Arrest Jacque Maribe's Neighbour Over Gun Used in Monica's Murder Case

The homicide case of Monica Kimani has taken a new twist after police arrested Jacque Maribe’s neighbour for his involvement in the murder.

Detectives apprehended Brian Kasaine after establishing he was the owner of the gun that Joseph Kuria Irungu alias Joe Jowi allegedly shot himself with.

Reports indicate that police suspect Joe intended to commit suicide but the attempt failed.

Three more people (a radio presenter, a televison director and a news presenter) are expected to record statements in relation to their knowledge of Maribe and Irungu’s relationship.

"They hold very close information that will help us in the investigations," a source privy to the probe intimated to The Standard.

Media personality Jacque Maribe was locked up at Gigiri Police station in connection to the murder of Monica and is set to be arraigned in court on Monday.

Before her arrest, detectives had spent hours in her house in search of the pistol used by her lover.

They were also looking for the suspected weapon used in the murder and a sizeable amount of money they believe was in Monica's possession at the time of her murder.

The cash is be believed to be approximately Ksh6 million.

A police source stated a significant discovery during the search and contradictions in the journalists story convinced them to treat her as a suspect rather than a witness.

The Ministry of Foreign affairs denied claims that Monica was an employee of the Kenyan Embassy in Juba.
