Raila Odinga Speaks on Rescuing Governor Okoth Obado Over Sharon Otieno's Murder

ODM leader Raila Odinga on Thursday stated he will not support Migori governor Okoth Obado in the murder case against Rongo University student Sharon Otieno.

While campaigning in Migori, Odinga stated he had received many calls to stand with Obado, but insisted justice should take its course.

"So far all indicators are pointing at Obado, let him prove his innocence in court," Raila stated.

He remarked that the murder of a pregnant woman together with her unborn child can be termed as an act of witchcraft.

"It was unfortunate that a very young woman and her angel were murdered brutally. If the killers didn't need the child or the mother they should have spared their lives," Raila stated.

The former Prime Minister remarked that according to the Luo culture, such an act is in bad faith and would bring a bad omen.

He was speaking at Awendo bus park during a stopover in a two-day campaign for party candidate Ochillo Ayacko in the Senate by-election.

There was tension in Uriri ahead of Mr Odinga’s arrival over fears that angry residents will block the campaign convoy.

The residents, most of who are Governor Obado’s village mates, are angry at Mr Odinga’s “refusal to rescue Obado’.

Odinga also stated that the Migori Governor was just a suspect in the murder of Sharon and it was only the court process that can prove him innocent or guilty.
