Kamiti Inmates' Promise to Mike Sonko After Surprise Reward

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Thursday gifted inmates at the Kamiti Maximum Prison, specifically KCPE and KCSE candidates, success cards and mathematical sets.

The Governor explained that he felt compelled to do something after learning that candidates in this year's national examinations in various prisons lacked adequate materials to prepare themselves.

Describing the inmates as highly motivated, Sonko stated that they promised to post impressive results in the papers.

"I was touched by the inmates plight since they had no one to wish them success & also buy for them exam materials.

"The highly motivated inmates have now promised to perform well in the national exams," he wrote.

Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations will begin on October 30.

Rehearsals will begin on October 29 with the papers ending on November 1.

Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams start on November 2 and run until November 28.

Inmates in various prisons across the country will be among the millions of students sitting for the examinations.

1.06 million pupils will sit for KCPE exams and another 663,820 students for the KCSE.
