Chief Justice David Maraga has spoken for the first time since he and his wife, Yucabeth Nyaboke, were involved in an accident on Saturday.
Taking to social media, the CJ confirmed the early morning incident.
He further revealed that their was no cause for alarm since all the car’s occupants, including his driver and aide, were okay.
They were still undergoing medical treatment at War Memorial Hospital .
“My wife and I were involved in an accident in Nakuru this morning on our way to Church. We are undergoing medical observation. My driver and aide who were with us are also okay. We thank God for His mercies. Thank you Kenyans for your prayers and concern.” posted the Supreme Court Judge.
The CJ further added that they were only going to Nairobi so that everyone is sure they are fine.
“We are fine, there is no cause for alarm at all, we are just going to Nairobi because everybody wants to be sure that we are fine. So, there is no cause for alarm, it’s just this is a minor laceration which the doctors have managed here very well so we are going to Nairobi,” continued the CJ.
He was airlifted to Nairobi for specialised treatment after the accident that occurred at Ngata Area in Nakuru while heading to church
Maraga sustained head injuries while his wife was in shock but stable.
According to the Rift Valley Regional Coordinator Mongo Chimwaga, the accident occurred at around 9.45am.
The accident was grisly that the car's bonnet and bumper were left badly damaged and the airbags deployed.
